Just finished and ran back here!! I loved it, was almost a 5 but the ending didnt quite hit 🥲 I love every character in the book I cant quite explain the kinship I feel with each of them. And I loved the implicit and explicit queernes everywhere! I love when authors make the mundane entertaining enough to read

i totally get it!! i think i liked the ending because it somehow ties things up in a nice bow while also demonstrating the bittersweetness of all of it. idk i'm a sucker for happy endings and this one feels as close to happy as the characters were gonna get haha

and so true about the mundane!!! honestly i think that's why i enjoyed it so much - not a lot happened and so much of it is just internal conflict but it makes the mundanity of a hot and sweaty weekend feel like dramatic television

OH MY GODDD i am so so so happy you found this book through my piece and it resonated with you so deeply. you describe it perfectly and it’s so validating to read that someone loved it and saw it for what it was like i did!

the prose was so vivid and the characters were so vulnerable and real and flawed. as a writer, i read evenings and weekends and thought to myself: “this is the kind of book i want to write one day.”

a beautiful piece for a beautiful book! thank you for sharing your thoughts 🤍
